A new glass recycling bring site is now available for residents in Lady Bay in West Bridgford.
The facility off Holme Road, adjacent to the Hook Skate Park, is now a further location to recycle in the town and to assist householders to recycle even more effectively.
Brown, clear and green glass can now be recycled separately at the new facility, a process that means the products are 100% recycled back into glass, as they are also collected and colour-separated by a specialist vehicle.
Rushcliffe Borough Council is the collection authority for household waste in the Borough with policy what can currently be recycled decided by Nottinghamshire County Council and its contractors.
Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods Cllr Rob Inglis met Mayor Cllr Sue Mallender and Ward Member Cllr Richard Mallender to view the new recycling site.
Cllr Inglis said: “This new facility is in a prime location for the residents of Lady Bay and West Bridgford which will help them to recycle glass even more effectively.
“We appreciate the efforts that so many residents go to, to recycle glass at our bring sites but it means we can fully recycle it back into the same product.
“We’re continuing to recycle ever more glass, with people working from home more as a result of COVID-19 meaning we have greater volumes to recycle.
“A big thank you to all residents who recycle so diligently. A reminder with your blue bin at home please only place plastic bottles, paper and cardboard, yoghurt pots, margarine tubs, aluminium and tin cans in them so we can all play our part to recycle effectively.”
Mayor Cllr Sue Mallender said: “We’re pleased this will give residents even more opportunity to recycle glass. Please visit www.rushcliffe.gov.uk/recycling to check what items can be placed in what bins and what products can be recycled at bring sites.”
