Participants of all abilities and ages will be heading to the city of Nottingham on Sunday 10 March for one of the region’s biggest and best-loved charity road runs, the Nottingham 10K.
The event is back, bigger and better with an exciting new and improved city centre route. Participants can expect iconic landmarks and incredible local support along the 10K route.
Nottingham 10K
Starting in Old Market Square and finishing inside the grounds of the historic Nottingham Castle, runners can look forward to a city centre start and finish. Marking a monumental milestone for the iconic city centre landmark, the Nottingham 10K will be the first sporting event to be held at Nottingham Castle.
Nottingham 10K Route
After starting in Old Market Square; the largest public space in the UK after London’s Trafalgar Square, the 10K route will then head north of the city centre, travelling along King Edward Street, A60 Huntingdon Street, B684 Woodborough Road, Bluecoat Street, North Sherwood Street, Peel Street, Addison Street and towards Forest Recreation Ground.
Once there, the route will take participants along Forest Road East and through Forest Recreation Ground before travelling south back towards Nottingham City Centre. Runners will then reach Motorpoint Nottingham Arena before heading along Canal Street, Colin Street and Carrington Street towards the finish line.
Looping around Nottingham’s Park Estate, noted for its Victorian architecture, participants will then reach the historic finish line inside Nottingham Castle.
The event is expected to raise tens of thousands of pounds for a number of good causes including the event’s official partner charities; Notts County Foundation, Trent Bridge Community Trust, Maggie’s, Mind Nottinghamshire and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
Organised by the UK’s largest not for profit events company, Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, event organisers are now informing runners, spectators, residents, businesses and visitors that a number of road closures and restrictions will be in place to ensure the safety of all those taking part.
Returning to the sporting calendar on the same day as Mother’s Day, participants are encouraged to join their mums on the start line to take on the 10K challenge together.
