Nottingham Castle Christmas market event scrapped

Nottingham Castle’s annual Christmas market will not return this year, organisers have confirmed.

The ticketed event had been held at the city attraction in late November each year since Nottingham Castle reopened in 2023.

Last year’s market ran over three days and featured more than 90 independent traders.

It’s In Nottingham, which organised the event, said it had decided not to bring the market back in 2026 as it looks to “explore new activities and opportunities”.

A spokesperson said: “This is not a decision we have taken lightly, however, we believe our original goal for the market – to help position Nottingham Castle as a versatile and attractive venue for events in Nottingham – has been achieved.

“Nottingham City Council understands our need to explore new activities and opportunities in line with our commitments as a business improvement district.

“We have also worked with the local traders who have contributed to this success.

The decision means the castle market will be absent from Nottingham’s Christmas events calendar this year, although organisers say they will continue to invest in other city centre events.
