Nottingham City Transport announces its participation in the extension of the government £2 bus fare cap until the end of October 2023, ensuring affordable travel options for residents and visitors across Nottingham.
The £2 fare cap offers an 80p discount on the usual adult single fare for NCT journeys in the Nottingham area and can be purchased on bus using contactless or cash, through the NCTX Buses app, via Easyrider Purse and on a Robin Hood Pay As You Go Card.
Participating in the extended government scheme reflects NCT’s commitment to accessible and inclusive transport by providing the opportunity to travel safely and affordably for thousands of commuters, students, and leisure travellers who rely on NCT’s services to travel to work, school and leisure destinations across Nottingham.
David Astill, NCT Managing Director said:
“As the difficult years of the lockdown get further away, we hope that our customers will take advantage of this heavily discounted fare as they return to more frequent journeys by bus for work, education, leisure and pleasure“
Transport Secretary Mark Harper said:
“Taking the bus is the most popular form of public transport, and millions of people rely on these vital services every day. That’s why we are investing half a billion pounds to help people save money amid cost of living pressures and continue to level up transport in all parts of the country, doing our bit to help halve inflation and grow the economy.”
The extended £2 bus fare cap will be implemented across all Nottingham City Transport routes, ensuring that passengers can travel at an affordable rate. Customers travelling on NCT’s longer distance routes such as Loughborough, Southwell and Lambley/Woodborough can also take advantage of the scheme, with their maximum fare also capped at £2 for adults and under 19s.
