Nottinghamshire County Council plans surrender of Regatta Way farmland lease

Nottinghamshire County Council is being asked to approve the early ending of a farm tenancy on land west of Regatta Way in Adbolton, with plans to re-let the site on the open market once the current agreement is formally surrendered.

A report to the council’s Director of Economy, Environment and Assets, dated 26 January 2026, explains that the land is currently let under a farm business tenancy covering 56.93 acres. The tenant has served a notice to quit the land, prompting the council to seek approval to bring the tenancy to an end through a Deed of Surrender.

The report states that there are no alternative options under consideration and that the recommendation is based solely on the tenant’s decision to terminate the tenancy. If approved, the council will enter into the Deed of Surrender in accordance with the terms of the existing agreement.

Once the tenancy ends, the council intends to re-let the land on the open market. The report notes that there may be periods when the land is vacant, during which time no rental income would be received.

The proposal falls within delegated authority previously granted to the Director of Economy, Environment and Assets for property-related matters, following an earlier decision in September 2023.

No specific legal, environmental sustainability, or local government reorganisation implications have been identified in the report, and consultation and policy considerations have been undertaken where relevant.

If approved, the decision would enable the council to formally conclude the existing tenancy and begin the process of re-letting the land, with any commercial details contained in an exempt appendix that is not published for reasons of commercial sensitivity.
