Nottinghamshire is facing a spell of extreme heat this week, with an amber warning in place and temperatures forecast to peak at 38C on Thursday.
The Met Office forecast shows several days of unbroken sunshine from Tuesday, with very high pollen levels, high UV and warm nights expected across the county.
Temperatures are forecast to reach 35C on both Tuesday and Wednesday, before climbing to 38C on Thursday.
Conditions are then expected to become less intense by Friday and Saturday, although it will remain warm with sunny intervals and highs of 28C and 26C.
Tuesday 23 June
Tuesday will be sunny and very hot across Nottinghamshire, with temperatures reaching 35C.
The day will stay dry throughout, with only a very small chance of rain. Temperatures will remain high into the evening, staying above 30C until around 21:00.
Winds will be light, mainly from the west and north-west later in the day. UV levels will be high, pollution is forecast to be moderate, and pollen levels will be very high.
Wednesday 24 June
Wednesday will bring another very hot and sunny day, with temperatures again reaching 35C.
The morning will warm quickly, rising from around 21C at 06:00 to 30C by midday. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-30s during the afternoon.
There is little chance of rain through the day. UV levels will be high, pollution moderate, and pollen levels very high.
Thursday 25 June
Thursday is expected to be the hottest day of the week, with the forecast showing a high of 38C.
Sunshine is expected throughout the day, with temperatures reaching 30C by late morning and continuing to rise through the afternoon. The forecast shows 36C by 14:00 and 37C during the mid-afternoon, before temperatures slowly ease during the evening.
It will remain very warm into the evening, with temperatures still around 30C at 21:00. UV levels will be high, pollution moderate, and pollen levels very high.
Friday 26 June
Friday will be cooler than the previous three days, but still warm, with sunny intervals and a high of 28C.
Temperatures are expected to rise from around 21C at 07:00 to 26C by early afternoon, before peaking at 27C around 16:00.
There is a low chance of rain throughout the day, with south-westerly winds and high UV levels.
Saturday 27 June
Saturday is forecast to start cloudy before changing to sunny intervals by late morning.
Temperatures are expected to reach 26C, with the warmest part of the day during the afternoon. The forecast shows highs of around 25C at 16:00 and 24C by early evening.
There is a slightly higher chance of rain than earlier in the week, at around 20% to 30% during parts of the day, but conditions are still expected to remain largely dry. UV levels will remain high.
Outlook
The hottest conditions are expected between Tuesday and Thursday, with Thursday currently forecast to be the peak of the heatwave.
People are being advised to take care during the hottest parts of the day, drink plenty of water, keep homes as cool as possible, and check on older neighbours, vulnerable people and those with existing health conditions.
