Nottinghamshire County Council will consider several options to enhance its household waste and recycling centres (HWRC) network, following an extensive cross-party scrutiny review process.
The purpose of the scrutiny review was to ensure that the HWRC facilities are fit for the future, offering improved waste disposal services and expanding recycling options for residents.
The Council’s Transport & Environment Committee began the review of the HWRC network in 2022, and this work transferred to the new Place Select Committee after the Council changed its governance model later that year.
On Thursday (25th July), the County Council’s Cabinet will consider the recommendations arising from this cross-party process, and the proposed response to those recommendations from the Cabinet Member for Transport & Environment, Councillor Neil Clarke MBE.
Councillor Clarke commented: “We want to ensure that we are improving the network, offering a better service, reducing congestion at the sites, and expanding the range of items that people can recycle.
“Our goal is to provide the residents of Nottinghamshire with the best possible overall service. We are committed to ensuring that no centre will close unless there is a much better alternative already open and available.’
