Police recovered around £40,000 worth of stolen mobile phones and arrested two suspects within minutes of a reported shop robbery.
Two offenders wearing face coverings entered the Three store in Stodman Street, Newark, and threatened a member of staff before loading up boxes with a large number of phones, tablets, and earphones.
They ran off with the boxes following the robbery which happened around 2.45 pm yesterday (Wednesday 3 January 2024).
Officers were quickly on scene, searched the area, and arrested two suspects a short time later after a foot chase.
Two boys, aged 15, were detained on suspicion of robbery. They remain in custody.
Detective Sergeant Joanne Eaton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Thanks to an excellent team effort involving Newark teams, officers were quickly able to arrest two suspects and recover a substantial quantity of stolen stock.
“The force takes all reports of robberies extremely seriously, as the positive results we’ve achieved in this case so far clearly show.
“Our inquiries remain ongoing so it’s important that anyone who was in the area and has any information that can assist us with our investigation gets in touch with us as soon as possible.”
