There is fresh disruption for Nottingham bus passengers this morning, while East Midlands Railway’s reduced timetable continues ahead of major Bank Holiday industrial action.

Roads and motorways
No major new collision or full closure has been identified in the early checks on the M1 through Nottinghamshire, A1, A46 or A52.
This is the start of the Bank Holiday getaway, so traffic is likely to become considerably heavier later today. Drivers heading away for the weekend should allow extra time, particularly once the morning peak develops.
New Nottingham bus disruption this morning
There is a new city-centre diversion affecting several Nottingham City Transport services from the start of service today.
Because of roadworks on Shakespeare Street, Pink 28 and 30 and Orange 35 and 36 cannot serve the Milton Street stops or the Elite stop. Passengers are being directed to Burton Street alongside The Cornerhouse instead. The NCT update was live shortly after 06:00 this morning.
Final day of Edwards Lane and Bramcote Lane diversions
Two long-running sets of bus diversions are scheduled to reach their final day today.
Edwards Lane closes between 08:00 and 17:00 for resurfacing. Purple 87, 88, 89 and 89A and Blue 40A divert via Mansfield Road and Valley Road.
In Wollaton, today is also the scheduled final weekday of the Bramcote Lane closure, affecting Pink 30. Buses divert via Trowell Road and Wollaton Vale between 08:00 and 17:00.
Other bus disruption
Nuthall Road resurfacing continues today between 07:30 and 16:00. Turquoise 78 and 79 towards Strelley and Bulwell divert via Aspley Lane and Western Boulevard; city-bound buses operate normally. The works continue on weekdays until 1 September.
Sherwood Rise remains partially closed, with Yellow 68/68A, 69, 70 and 71 towards the city diverting via Haydn Road, Hucknall Road and Mansfield Road.
In Woodborough, Main Street works continue between 09:00 and 15:30, affecting Sky Blue 61 until 4 September.
At City Hospital, Linden Way remains closed until further notice, changing the route used by Blue 40A.
Overnight roadworks
Westdale Lane West, between Pierrepont Avenue and Ramsdale Road, continues to close overnight between 20:00 and 06:00 for resurfacing. Lilac 25 and 25B divert via Cavendish Road. The works are scheduled through Monday 31 August.
In Newark, the long-running overnight resurfacing programme on London Road continues. Weeknight closures operate between 20:00 and 06:00, with Pathfinder 90 diverted via Boundary Road, Bowbridge Road and Hawton Lane. The programme continues until 4 September.
Rail – reduced timetable continues today
East Midlands Railway continues to operate its temporary reduced Intercity timetable until further notice.
For weekdays, cancelled Nottingham services include the 05:14, 09:50, 10:50 and 16:50 Nottingham to London St Pancras, together with several London-to-Nottingham trains. Some other services are operating with fewer carriages.
RMT action short of a strike also remains in force, meaning trains can be altered or cancelled at short notice.
There is some improvement approaching: from Tuesday 1 September, EMR says its Intercity service will increase from 87% to 92% of the full planned timetable, including the reinstatement of three previously cancelled weekday Nottingham services.
Major Bank Holiday rail disruption
Passengers should pay particular attention to Sunday 30 and Bank Holiday Monday 31 August.
Industrial action will substantially reduce EMR Intercity and Connect services on both days, and passengers are being advised to travel only if their journey is essential.
Nottingham–London St Pancras services will operate at one train per hour, starting after 07:00 and finishing before 19:00. No rail replacement buses will be provided for the strike disruption.
Tickets dated Sunday or Monday can be used instead on Friday 28 August – today – Saturday 29 August, Tuesday 1 September or Wednesday 2 September, subject to the published conditions.
Major A6097 works
The A614/A6097 Kirk Hill junction scheme at East Bridgford remains one of the most significant long-term roadworks affecting Nottinghamshire.
