The main disruption today is from planned works, including A52 Wheatcroft, another daytime closure of Bramcote Lane, and further major overnight works on Mansfield Road, Hucknall Road, Highbury Vale and Beeston Road.
The significant change for rail passengers is that the RMT strike planned for today and Thursday has been suspended, with East Midlands Railway expecting to operate its scheduled timetable.
Roads and motorways
No major new collision or emergency closure has been identified on Nottinghamshire’s principal strategic roads at the time of the early check.
National Highways’ live-travel service remains the best source for incidents developing during the morning peak.
Drivers using the A52 through West Bridgford and Gamston should continue to allow additional time around Wheatcroft junction, where utility diversion work and traffic management are in place ahead of the main junction reconstruction programme.
Rail – strike suspended
East Midlands Railway is expecting to operate its scheduled services today after RMT suspended the strike that had been planned for Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 September.
National Rail confirms the same position, saying services are expected to run as scheduled on both days.
There is an important qualification: RMT action short of a strike remains in place, so EMR says trains can still be subject to short-notice alterations and cancellations.
Passengers should therefore continue checking individual services before travelling.
Trams
The following tram departures are cancelled: 09:00 from Hucknall 07:53 from Toton Lane 07:48, 08:33 from Phoenix Park 07:37, 08:37 from Clifton South
Buses – Bramcote Lane
The weekday closure of Bramcote Lane continues today between 09:30 and 17:00.
Nottingham City Transport says 18A and Pink 30 are diverting via Wollaton Vale and Trowell Road.
The current programme is due to finish tomorrow, Thursday 17 September.
Mansfield Road – another major closure tonight
The inbound A60 Mansfield Road between Goose Fair Island and Mapperley Road/Forest Road East is scheduled to be open for this morning’s peak following the overnight works.
It closes again from 20:00 tonight until 06:00 Thursday for reconstruction and resurfacing.
The weeknight closures continue until Friday 25 September, with no works on the nights of Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September.
All NCT Brown, Lime, Yellow and Purple Line buses towards the city divert during the closure via Gregory Boulevard, Alfreton Road and Canning Circus. Buses do not stop on the diversion until South Sherwood Street.
Stops including those around Forest Recreation Ground, Forest Road, Huntingdon Street and Victoria Centre J1 are affected.
Highbury Vale – final scheduled night
There is another closure affecting Yellow 68 and 69 tonight.
Roadworks on Highbury Vale mean buses divert between Highbury Hospital and Bulwell Bus Station via Piccadilly, St Alban’s Road, Carey Road and Main Street.
The diversion operates from 20:00 tonight until 06:00 Thursday and is the final night currently listed in this phase of works.
Hucknall Road – final scheduled night
Resurfacing works also continue on Hucknall Road tonight, affecting Turquoise 79.
Between 19:00 tonight and 06:00 Thursday, the 79 diverts via Carey Road, St Alban’s Road, Hucknall Road, Top Valley Way, Top Valley Drive and Bestwood Park Drive West.
This is the final scheduled overnight closure in the current 14–16 September programme.
Beeston Road – overnight disruption
Another significant overnight closure continues tonight on Beeston Road.
trentbarton travel alerts says Beeston Road closes in both directions between 20:00 and 06:00, affecting indigo and skylink Nottingham.
Stops missed during the closure include QMC Derby Road, University East Entrance, Dunkirk, Lace Street, University South Entrance and Tennis Centre. The current closure programme runs through Thursday 17 September.
Radcliffe-on-Trent
There is also a longer-running change affecting trentbarton’s mainline and Rushcliffe Villager at Vicarage Lane in Radcliffe-on-Trent.
The stop is closed because of Severn Trent works. Mainline passengers towards Bingham are being directed to New Road, while Nottingham-bound passengers use a temporary stop outside the Royal Oak.
Maid Marian Way – Broad Marsh
Traffic management remains in place around Maid Marian Way for demolition of the former Broad Marsh NCP car park and Nottingham College building.
NCT says it does not currently expect to divert services, but lane restrictions and temporary traffic lights are causing delays.
The arrangements are expected to remain in place until the end of November.
Victoria Centre
Works on Milton Street alongside Victoria Centre also continue.
Pink 28 and 30 remain temporarily relocated to Burton Street alongside The Cornerhouse until the works are completed.
East Bridgford and Lowdham
The major A614/A6097 improvement programme continues, including construction at Kirk Hill, East Bridgford, and Lowdham Roundabout.
The £43 million-plus corridor programme covers five junctions – Ollerton Roundabout, White Post Roundabout, Warren Hill, Lowdham Roundabout and Kirk Hill.
