The most significant new development today is in Nottingham city centre, where traffic restrictions begin around Maid Marian Way for the next phase of Broad Marsh demolition works.
Roads and motorways
No major new unplanned incident has been identified in the early checks affecting the M1 through Nottinghamshire, A1, A46 or A52.
There have, however, been several overnight restrictions.
On the M1 southbound, the exit at junction 26 and lanes between junctions 26 and 25 were closed for vegetation works until 06:00 this morning.
The A52 westbound exit for the M1 was also closed overnight, with the restriction scheduled to end at 06:00.
Further east, the A1 northbound exit at the A52 near Grantham was closed overnight until 06:00, together with several other A1 slip roads in the area.
On the A46, overnight maintenance restrictions near Newark and between the A606 and A52 were scheduled to finish by 04:00-05:00.
New today – Maid Marian Way restrictions
A significant new programme of traffic management begins today, Wednesday 9 September, around Maid Marian Way and Broad Marsh.
Preparations are starting for demolition of the former NCP car park and former Nottingham College building.
The initial arrangements include lane closures at the Castle Gate junction and temporary four-way traffic signals where Canal Street meets Wilford Street and Castle Boulevard.
Nottingham City Transport says it does not currently expect to divert services, but warns the lane restrictions and temporary traffic lights are likely to cause delays. The arrangements are expected to affect the area until the end of November.
A52 Wheatcroft
The new traffic restrictions at Wheatcroft junction are now in their third day.
National Highways says utility diversion work is taking place for around three months ahead of the main reconstruction of the A52 Wheatcroft junction.
Lane closures and a 40mph speed limit are in force, with this week’s traffic management scheduled through Friday.
The wider programme will eventually rebuild both Wheatcroft and Nottingham Knight junctions, with the overall scheme expected to run until spring 2029.

Rail – engineering alterations continue
East Midlands Railway remains on its temporary reduced Intercity timetable, with the service currently running at around 92% of the full planned timetable.
There are also several late-night engineering alterations affecting Nottinghamshire this week.
The 23:00 Lincoln to Nottingham does not run, with a replacement bus serving stations including Newark, Collingham, Fiskerton, Bleasby, Lowdham, Burton Joyce and Carlton.
The 23:20 Matlock to Nottingham terminates at Derby, with onward replacement transport through Long Eaton, Attenborough and Beeston, while the 23:50 Nottingham to Derby is replaced by a bus. These alterations are scheduled through Thursday.
National Rail is also listing an amended 23:09 Birmingham New Street to Nottingham service through Thursday 10 September and an amended 19:41 Matlock to Cleethorpes through Friday.
Further RMT industrial action remains scheduled for Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 September.

Buses – final day of Cotgrave Lane closure
Today is the scheduled final day of the Cotgrave Lane closure at Tollerton.
Between 07:30 and 19:00, Green 12, 12C and 12E divert via Tollerton Lane, Melton Road and Cotgrave Road.
Edwalton – Alford Road
Resurfacing continues on Alford Road in Edwalton, affecting Green 5, 5A and 6.
Between 07:00 and 18:00, buses divert via Stamford Road, Melton Road and Melton Gardens. The works began on Tuesday and are continuing until completed.
Bramcote Lane
The weekday closure of Bramcote Lane continues today between 09:30 and 17:00.
NCT 18A and Pink 30 divert via Wollaton Vale and Trowell Road. The current programme continues through 17 September.
Bathley Street
The longer-running closure of Bathley Street at Arkwright Street continues, affecting Green 11 and 11C.
The diversion is scheduled to remain in place until Friday 9 October.
Jacksdale – Pye Hill Road
There is further disruption at Pye Hill Road in Jacksdale today.
trentbarton says the next closure is scheduled from 19:00 tonight until 06:00 Thursday, with another overnight closure tomorrow and a daytime closure on Friday.
Services 90 and rainbow one are affected, with numerous stops around Jacksdale and Westwood missed during the restrictions.
Trowell – A609 closes again tonight
Another overnight closure takes place on the A609 Ilkeston Road at Trowell tonight.
The road is scheduled to close between 19:00 tonight and 06:00 Thursday, affecting trentbarton’s two and my15.
Stops around Trowell, including Stoney Lane, Haynes Avenue, Festival Inn, Motorway Bridge, Waterloo Lane and Springwood Nursery, are affected.
A further daytime closure from 07:30 to 19:30 is scheduled for Thursday.
Beeston Road
The major overnight closure of Beeston Road continues.
The road closes in both directions between 20:00 and 06:00 each night until Thursday 17 September, diverting trentbarton indigo and skylink Nottingham.
Stops around QMC, University East Entrance, Dunkirk, Lace Street, University South Entrance and the Tennis Centre are affected.
NCT 18, 34C and university hopper 901 are also affected by the Beeston Road/University Boulevard works.
Arnold
Overnight closures continue on Front Street in Arnold between 20:00 and 06:00 until Saturday 12 September.
The works affect a range of NCT services as well as trentbarton’s calverton.
Other significant roadworks
The long-term A614/A6097 improvement programme continues at Lowdham Roundabout and Kirk Hill, East Bridgford.
Kirk Hill and East Bridgford Road remain closed as part of the approximately year-long junction reconstruction.
A further long-term closure begins today at Brunts Lane in East Bridgford, where the restricted byway is due to close for junction improvement works until August 2027.
