Nottinghamshire weather for Sunday 11 January

Sunday 11 January is set to turn much milder but unsettled, with persistent rain, strengthening winds and temperatures climbing well above recent levels.

Early morning
The day will begin overcast and damp, with rain already affecting many areas from the early hours. Temperatures will be around 1°C at dawn, but it will feel colder, closer to -3°C, due to a strengthening south-south-easterly wind of around 10 to 12 mph. Rain will become more persistent through the morning, with the chance of precipitation rising to 70 to 80 per cent. Any remaining icy patches from previous days should gradually thaw as temperatures lift.

Midday
By late morning into midday, rain will continue, at times steady and prolonged. Temperatures will rise to around 3°C to 4°C, with feels-like values improving to around -1°C. Winds will freshen further from the south-south-east at 14 to 16 mph, with gusts reaching around 30 to 33 mph. Although milder, it will feel raw and unpleasant under persistent cloud and rain.

Afternoon
The afternoon will remain unsettled, with frequent spells of rain and little let-up. Temperatures will continue to climb, reaching around 5°C to 6°C by mid to late afternoon, marking a significant change from the colder conditions earlier in the week. Winds will strengthen further from the south, averaging 16 to 17 mph, with gusts of 35 to 37 mph possible, particularly in exposed areas. Rainfall may be locally heavy at times, adding to difficult conditions for travel.

Evening
Rain will continue into the evening, though it may become lighter and more intermittent later on. Temperatures will remain mild, holding between 6°C and 9°C through the evening, preventing any risk of frost. Winds will stay strong from the south to south-south-west at around 16 to 19 mph, with gusts still approaching 40 mph early in the evening before slowly easing later on. Overall, it will be a wet, windy and markedly milder end to the weekend.
