NUH stands down Critical Incident in pathology after IT failure

The Critical Incident related to IT issues in Pathology service has now been stood down.

On Tuesday 10 September NUH declared a Critical Incident as a result of an IT failure in the  Pathology service which has affected the ability to process blood test results in a timely fashion, and the impact this was having on hospital services and primary care.

As a result of the incident, NUH asked patients not to attend the phlebotomy (blood testing) service at City Hospital or the QMC, including the Treatment Centre for regular tests until further notice.

On Wednesday 11 September NUH says that the affected systems are returning to normal  and are they now operating business as usual.

‘Patients can now attend the phlebotomy (blood testing) service at City Hospital and the QMC, including the Treatment Centre, for regular tests.  GP colleagues are being advised to return to business as usual in testing from 2pm this afternoon (Wednesday 11 September)
