East Midlands Railway announced the incident this evening 2 October.
A spokesperson said:
‘Line closed between Luton and London St Pancras
‘We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train. This has occurred between Luton and London St Pancras and as a result our trains will be impacted on the London St Pancras/Luton Airport Parkway/Corby and London St Pancras/Nottingham/Sheffield routes.
‘British Transport Police are on site to manage the incident.
‘Trains running through the area in both directions may experience delays of up to 60 minutes between Luton and London St Pancras as trains cannot run between these stations.
‘Our priority following the management of the incident from the Emergency services and British Transport Police, will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 21:30.’
