West Bridgford’s solidarity with Ukraine march took place this morning.
There was an excellent turnout for the event, organised by Sofia Lesiuk.
Glorious weather made the spectacle an emotional sight, as Ukrainians and local people marched from Gordon Square to Central Avenue.
Along the route some local businesses supported by showing the flag of Ukraine in their shopfronts.
Gathering near the Croquet Lawn in the town speeches were made by the leader of Nottingham City Council Cllr David Mellen, Michael Holod from the Association of Ukrainians in Nottingham, leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council, Cllr Simon Robinson and Ruth Edwards MP.
Council leaders noted the depot political differences they stand together in support for the people of Ukraine. Rushcliffe could see 160 families arrive in the borough in the next few weeks.
