Police officers from Newark and Sherwood Operation Reacher attended a cannabis grow that had been found in Edwinstowe.
Police say that a substantial and sophisticated grow was found and dismantled by the team.
A spokesperson said:
‘We don’t make the law and cannabis is still illegal and while it remains illegal, officers at Nottinghamshire Police will continue to enforce it.
‘These pictures show the other side of growing cannabis.
‘This is the exploitation of vulnerable people. These pictures show the squalid living conditions we found for the person looking after this grow.
‘The bed consisted of a wooden plank resting on two stools with a blanket.
‘Rat traps were found in this tiny area where the ‘gardener’ was expected to live.
‘Unfortunately, we were unable to locate the occupant on this occasion who had fled prior to our arrival and so we were unable to give them the help and assistance they will desperately need.
‘We will continue to dismantle grows and conduct warrants regarding the cultivation and sale of cannabis.
‘On Friday 14th April Operation Reacher carried out a warrant in Rainworth where a 27-year-old male was arrested for possession with intent to supply cannabis.
‘A large amount of cannabis was recovered as well as cash. This male remains on the police investigation.’
