Plans for 244 new homes near Nottingham Station

Plans to bring forward new homes on a brownfield site next to Nottingham Station have been unveiled, setting out proposals for a sensitively designed scheme that would deliver 244 new homes.

Brought forward by blocwork, working in partnership with Network Rail’s property company Platform 4 and Grainger, the scheme would unlock a major regeneration opportunity, delivering new homes alongside improvements to the surrounding public realm and new amenity space.

The homes would comprise one- and two-bedroom apartments for professionally managed rental living, responding to strong demand for well-located city living while supporting a diverse resident community.

The Station Street site has been identified one of four key sites in the governments drive to build 1.5 million homes during this parliament

Along Station Street, the scheme will introduce resident amenity space at ground-floor level, with an open and more welcoming frontage onto the street. Further improvements will be made to the surrounding public realm, including wider pavements, tree planting, seating and new landscaped areas, creating a more pleasant pedestrian environment.

Residents will benefit from shared indoor amenity spaces designed to support home working, studying, socialising and general wellbeing, alongside secure cycle storage to encourage sustainable travel.

Richard Thomas, director at blocwork, said: “blocwork was created with the aim of repurposing railway land and buildings into sustainable, long-term assets, and the site at Station Street represents another great opportunity to bring forward high-quality new homes, building on the success of our partnership in delivering the nearby Barnum scheme.

Our ambition for the site is to deliver a development that goes above and beyond to provide everything needed for city living – combining high-quality homes with amenity space to support community life. Working closely with stakeholders, we’ve shaped proposals that respond to the site’s context while supporting the city’s wider ambitions for regeneration around Nottingham station.”

The design has been carefully developed to complement the surrounding area, resulting in an attractive and well-considered building. High-quality, durable materials will be used throughout, ensuring the development makes a lasting and positive contribution to the area.

A public consultation will take place on Thursday 26 February, from 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm at Nottingham Central Library, 1 Carrington Street, Nottingham NG1 7FH, where residents, businesses and stakeholders are invited to view the proposals, ask questions and provide feedback ahead of the submission of a planning application to Nottingham City Council.
