Advantage Padel Ltd has applied to Nottingham City Council to transform the former Almor Limited factory on Daleside Road, Sneinton—a fabric and thermal insulation manufacturer that closed in 2022.
If approved, the development will feature:
- Seven indoor padel courts
- Two outdoor courts
- Changing facilities
- A lounge area and club café
- A warm-up gym
Padel tennis—a racket sport blending elements of tennis and squash, played on smaller enclosed courts—is described by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) as “the fastest-growing sport in the world.”
The venue will offer:
- 49 car parking spaces
- 4 cycle bays
- Operating hours from 7am to 10pm daily
- Employment for 10 staff members
Architectural upgrades will enhance the building’s appearance, including new timber cladding and illuminated signage.
Advantage Padel currently operates a centre in Kingsley, Hampshire, with three additional venues underway in South East Hampshire, South Dorset, and London.
A previous application for a site on Little Tennis Street (near Trent Basin) was withdrawn in January 2024 after the council flagged conflicts with local planning policy. The new location has a stronger planning history for leisure use, making it a more viable option.
Planning documents state:
“Padel tennis caters to mixed ages and abilities, offering an inclusive, socially driven sport. The proposed facility will bolster Nottingham’s leisure infrastructure while repurposing an underused industrial space.”
