Nottinghamshire Police would like to congratulate Nottingham Forest on the Championship play-off victory and being back in the Premier League after over two decades.
Winning 1-0 against Huddersfield yesterday (29 May), the Reds were promoted to the top flight for the first time in 23 years.
Tens of thousands of fans gathered today (30 May) in Old Market Square, Nottingham city centre, to celebrate reaching top tier football again next season.
Chief Constable Craig Guildford said: “It’s really great to see so many Nottingham Forest fans celebrating this momentous occasion and seeing all the generations of supporters coming together to show their support for the team today.
“It’s fantastic to see people from all across Nottinghamshire coming together in such joyous celebration. To see tens of thousands of fans this afternoon, it really shows how football can bring people together.
“On behalf of Nottinghamshire Police I would like to congratulate each and every player, staff member and all of the support staff who have worked so hard all season to reach the Premier League and wish them the best of luck going into next season.”
Police and Crime Commissioner Caroline Henry said: “It was great to see so many fans come together this afternoon to celebrate Nottingham Forest on their win. I want to congratulate all the players and staff at the club who have worked so hard to ensure promotion to the Premier League.”
