A suspected drink driver was found lying under a parked van by a police dog.
Roads policing officers were on routine patrol in Sutton-in-Ashfield at about 12.15am on Thursday (20 November) when they spotted a car travelling as excess speed.
The driver failed to stop and was pursued through surrounding streets until losing control and crashing into a parked car in Charnwood Street.
The driver and front seat passenger then ran from the vehicle on foot and disappeared into the darkness.
Police Dog Max was brought in to the search the area and soon sniffed out a suspect lying under a parked van nearby.
Josh Soar, aged 27, has now been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop and drink driving.
Soar, of the Oval, Sutton-in-Ashfield, has been bailed to appear at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on 9 December.
PC Michael Reaney, of Nottighamshire Polcie, said:
“Dogs like Max play a unique role in front-line policing and on this occasion led us directly to a man suspected of committing serious motoring offences.”
