Police make arrests after balaclava-clad riders reported in Rushcliffe villages

Police say a number of arrests have been made following reports of people wearing balaclavas riding mopeds and electric bikes in an anti-social manner across villages in Rushcliffe.

Officers said they were aware of several reports involving groups riding around local communities, causing concern among residents.

The groups have also been linked to the theft of bicycles and motorcycles in the area.

Police said officers from neighbourhood teams were working alongside Operational Support and CID colleagues to identify those believed to be involved.

A number of arrests have been made in recent days, while further individuals who have been identified remain outstanding and are being actively targeted.

Police have also reminded the public that e-scooters remain illegal to use in public places unless they are being operated as part of a government-authorised rental scheme.

Anyone caught riding a privately owned e-scooter in public may be committing offences under the Road Traffic Act, which could lead to prosecution and the vehicle being seized.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or footage that may assist enquiries to report it by calling 101 or using the force’s online reporting tools. In an emergency, always call 999.
