Newark officers tracked down and recovered a stolen Jaguar within hours of it being reported missing.
The neighbourhood team sprang into action after receiving information that the stolen car had been spotted.
A few minutes and a quick area search later and Newark officers sighted the vehicle they’d been looking for in nearby Tolney Lane.
After being blocked in by police, the driver leapt out of the Jaguar without putting the handbrake on, with the slow-moving car rolling into a wall as a result.
Despite trying to make a run for it, the individual barely made it to the end of the road before being detained by pursuing officers, around 4pm on Sunday (13 April).
This came just a couple of hours after the owner first notified police about the theft, which happened at some point between 11pm on Friday (11 April) and late morning on the Sunday.
The Jaguar has since been returned to its owner, while police also arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, and driving without a valid licence or insurance.
Sergeant Rishi Thobhani, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“The Newark Team 1 officers involved in this incident did a great job reacting to new information as it came in to secure a positive result.
“Within minutes of hearing about a potential sighting of this car, the team had made their way out into the community to conduct an area search, found what they were looking for, and detained a suspect at the scene.
“All of that ultimately meant we were able to return a stolen vehicle to its rightful owner, which represented good work all-round and really summed up the positive impact neighbourhood policing can have for local residents.”
