Police searched an area of Edwalton after receiving an unusual report of wild boar chasing a dog walker.
Officers from Rushcliffe’s Neighbourhood Policing Team were called to the area on Tuesday 6 October following a report of loose boar or pigs.
A search was carried out, but officers found no sign of any wild boar or other similar animals.
The incident was among several reported by Rushcliffe police in their latest update, which also included an attempted burglary in Stanton-on-the-Wolds and the arrest of a shoplifter in Bingham.
On Monday 5 October, an off-duty Nottinghamshire Police inspector arrested a shoplifter following a theft from Boots on Eaton Place in Bingham.
Response officers subsequently took the individual into custody, where it emerged that they were also wanted in connection with two thefts from Sainsbury’s in Colwick during September.
Following questioning at Nottingham Custody Suite, the individual was charged with four counts of shop theft and resisting a police constable in the execution of their duty.
They appeared in court the following morning and received a 10-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and were ordered to pay £200 in compensation.
Also on Monday, neighbourhood officers attended a property in Stanton-on-the-Wolds following an attempted burglary.
Police believe the offender may have been disturbed by a barking dog. The occupants had heard their pet barking overnight and discovered damage to a rear ground-floor window the following morning.
The attempted break-in follows burglary offences reported in East Leake the previous week.
Police have reminded residents to take precautions to secure their homes and discourage opportunistic thieves.
Rushcliffe officers said they were also continuing to address ongoing problems across the borough, subject to available resources.
These include burglary, the use of electric scooters and motorcycles, car cruising and anti-social behaviour on the A52 and at the tram park-and-ride site.
Officers said these issues remain among their neighbourhood policing priorities alongside responding to calls for service.
