Officers are appealing for additional witnesses and information after a fire in a cornfield.
Emergency services were called to Nottingham Road, Nuthall, at 2.49pm on Thursday 9 July after the fire took hold.
The blaze, which caused around £10,000 in damage, was eventually brought under control by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Officers believe the blaze was started deliberately and would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious.
They are particularly keen to identify a teenage boy seen in the field before the flames took hold. He is described as white, around 14 years old, and wearing a white T-shirt.
PC Bailey Stackhouse, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was a serious fire that could have spread further but for the work of our Fire and Rescue Service colleagues.
“We believe this blaze was started deliberately and are working hard to track down a suspect.
“So, if anyone has any information they have not already shared with us, we would like to hear from them without delay.”
