Quick arrests after laptop burglary in Nottingham

Two suspects were arrested less than three hours into a burglary investigation.

A woman arrived home at 5.30 pm last night (Friday) to find her Apple MacBook laptop missing from her kitchen table in Burns Street, Radford.

She alerted the police and tracking software led them to a flat on Noel Street, where the laptop was recovered.

Two men aged 22 and 32 have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and handling stolen goods. They remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Sergeant Rob Palethorpe, of the city burglary team, said: “I hope the speed of these arrests provides some reassurance to the local community and demonstrates how seriously we treat reports of a burglary.

“We are committed to delivering a quick response to burglary investigations as we understand how upsetting such incidents can be for victims.

“Our inquiries into this incident remain ongoing but it appears access to the property was gained through an insecure window.

“Burglary is a distressing crime and so we would once again remind people to keep their doors and windows locked when not at home to mitigate the risk of your possessions being taken.”
