Waterside Bridge opened to the public today, Tuesday 2 June 2026, creating a new walking and cycling link across the River Trent between Trent Basin and the south bank near Lady Bay and West Bridgford.
New photos and video show the first members of the public crossing the long-awaited bridge, which is designed to improve access between the Waterside area, riverside green spaces, nearby communities and routes towards Nottingham city centre.

The bridge links Trent Basin, off Daleside Road, with the south bank of the Trent close to The Hook nature reserve, providing a new route for pedestrians, cyclists and commuters.
Previous updates described the project as the first new bridge over the River Trent in Nottingham for around 60 years.
