Rape arrest after teenagers sexually assaulted in Nottingham city

A suspect has been arrested for rape as part of an ongoing investigation into the sexual assault of two teenage girls.

The incidents both happened in the Old Market Square area of Nottingham city centre, around 11pm on Thursday 4 June.

One of the victims was reportedly raped in Norfolk Place at that time, while the other was sexually assaulted in Old Market Square.

Both victims have been supported by specialist officers since the assaults happened, while detectives have been conducting extensive inquiries.

An 18-year-old man was yesterday (16 June) arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Lloyd Goucher, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“As we bring news of this arrest today, our first thoughts remain with the two victims.

“Both have been supported by specialist police officers since the assaults happened and this will continue going forward.

“If anyone has any information about what happened, we’d ask that they please share this with Nottinghamshire Police immediately, so that we can act on it.”
