Reform UK councillor leads Clean Up Britain in Rushcliffe

Reform UK councillor Debbie Soloman and volunteers in Rushcliffe took to the streets on Saturday to clean up local roads, parks and public spaces as part of the party’s national Clean Up Britain Action Day.

A total of 14 volunteers took part in the community clean-up, collecting 12 bags of litter.

Reform UK said close to 1,000 people took part in similar events across the country as part of the campaign, which the party says is aimed at improving towns, cities and countryside areas.

The party has said it wants stronger action on littering and fly-tipping, including increased fines, better enforcement, regular community clean-up events, and measures aimed at reducing litter from takeaways, drive-throughs and vehicles.

Councillor Debbie Soloman, Rushcliffe’s Reform UK representative, said: “We all have a duty to take pride in our local environment.

“There is simply no excuse for throwing litter from vehicles or fly-tipping and expecting others to pick up the tab.

“By cleaning up a well-used junction today, we are sending a clear message to deter future offenders. Let’s all work together to keep Nottinghamshire neat.”

Speaking at a recent press conference announcing the first National Action Day, Reform UK deputy leader Richard Tice MP said: “Successive Labour and Conservative governments have utterly failed to address this issue.

“They haven’t cared and littering and fly-tipping have become the norm. It’s all around us. It’s a national disgrace.

“We can reverse this and restore a sense of pride in our streets and parks, and in our countryside. We have to take it seriously. We can do better than this.”
