A new, extended lease has been agreed to allow sports clubs to remain on county council-owned land in West Bridgford as part of the council’s commitment to helping local sports clubs grow.
This decision by Nottinghamshire County Council to agree to a long-term lease with the clubs currently based at Regatta Way sports ground – including West Bridgford Colts FC and Gedling and Sherwood Cricket Club – means that these clubs now have better access to grant funding to help improve facilities.
Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Asset Management, Councillor Keith Girling, said:
“We are proud to extend this lease as we see it as an investment in these vital clubs to help them thrive. We recognise how important they are to local communities.”
The current lease expires in 2032 and prevents the clubs from securing funding.
One thing the club wants to apply for funding for is a new 3G football pitch.

Chairman, Peter Stansbury, welcomed the club’s latest ‘signing’. He said:
“We are delighted that Nottinghamshire County Council has approved the extension of the lease on the ground.
“This will mean that we can now focus on the future and invest in our pitches and facilities so we can provide even more children and young adults with the opportunity to play football.
“I’d like to thank everyone involved at the Club and the county council for working on the new lease agreement and look forward to delivering the exciting plans we have for the future.”
