Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP) has awarded almost £800 to Ruddington Art & Craft Society to support an exciting community art trail project, transforming Openreach network boxes across the village into vibrant works of art.
Funded through RVCP’s Ruddington Community Fund, the project aims to create a colourful artistic trail throughout Ruddington, showcasing local creative talent while enhancing community pride, wellbeing and connection.
The grant scheme was made possible thanks to RVCP setting aside £10,000 from pitch fee income generated over several years through Ruddington Village Market, which takes place on the Village Green from 9am to 2pm on the first Saturday of each month between February and December.
Last year, the Ruddington Community Fund invited applications from local organisations whose projects aligned with its funding objectives. Eight projects were shortlisted by an independent judging panel before more than 200 residents attended a Community Fund Voting Evening earlier this year, meeting representatives from each organisation and casting votes for the projects they wished to support.
RVCP Committee Members Jen Walker, Mike Gaunt and Graham Abbott recently met with Ruddington Art & Craft Society Chair Chris Marriott and Members Giorgia Brown and Ellen Kinsley to view several of the completed artworks and learn more about the project’s progress.
Jen Walker said: “This project received strong support from residents through the Ruddington Community Fund, and it’s great to see the positive impact it’s already having across the village. The artwork is adding colour and interest to locations around Ruddington while showcasing the creativity and talent within our community.”
“The network boxes have attracted lots of positive feedback from residents, and it’s encouraging to see people taking an interest in the trail. We look forward to seeing the project continue to develop and give people another reason to explore the village.”
Chris Marriott said: “The Ruddington Arts & Craft Society would like to express our sincere gratitude to RVCP for enabling our members to bring this artistic project to fruition.”
“This has been a long time in the making, and throughout the process we have remained committed to creating something that would be both meaningful and worthwhile for our community.”
“Our hope is that this artwork will bring a vibrant splash of colour to Ruddington, while also contributing to the creation of an inspiring Art Trail for everyone to enjoy.”
“We are immensely grateful for the support that has made this project possible.”

The network box art trail is one of eight projects supported through the inaugural Ruddington Community Fund and demonstrates how local investment can help deliver lasting community benefits.
The second round of the Ruddington Community Fund is expected to launch in 2027. Further details will be announced early next year via the RVCP website www.rvcp.org.uk and on Facebook and Instagram at @ruddvcp.
