Saturday road closures, trams and bus service changes in Nottingham city for Royal Lancers Parade

A number of lunchtime road closures will be in place tomorrow (Saturday 28 June) when the Royal Lancers exercise their freedom of Nottingham.

The Royal Lancers have recently returned from several operations, including Operation ELGIN in Kosovo, Operation TOSCA in Cyprus and Operation CABRIT in Poland. The parade follows a time-old tradition where regiments of the British Army are granted ‘freedom of the city’ to mark their return from operations.

Following a service at St Mary’s Church, the military contingent will muster on High Pavement from 11.40am and march to Old Market Square. Members of the public are welcome to watch the parade at any point along the route.

There will be a number of road closures between 11 am and 12:30 pm in the city centre with diversions in place.

Trentbarton

From 11am, the following services will be disrupted until the roads reopen:

skylink Nottingham, skylink express, mainline, the cotgrave and the keyworth will be terminating/restarting at Broad Marsh Bus Station.

i4 and indigo will be terminating/restarting and using the bus stop outside the casino on Mount Street.

Please visit www.trentbarton.co.uk for further information.

Open days are also taking place this weekend at both Nottingham universities.

The University of Nottingham is holding events today (Friday 27 June) and tomorrow (Saturday 28 June) at its University Park and Jubilee Campus, while Nottingham Trent University will also host an open day tomorrow.

This will mean that Nottingham’s roads will be much busier than usual and people wanting to travel into the city might be better to leave the car at home and opt for the bus or tram instead.
