Second consultation on proposals for a new neighbourhood in Castle Donington

Clowes Developments, Barratt Redrow and Wilson Enterprises have today launched the second stage of the public consultation on proposals for a new neighbourhood of up to 1,200 homes, a new school and a community hub at Park Lane, Castle Donington.

Following the first stage of public consultation earlier this year, the joint venture is inviting feedback from members of the community on the updated proposals, ahead of submitting a planning application to North West Leicestershire District Council.

The latest plans aim to demonstrate how the initial feedback received from residents has helped shape key elements of the development, with the public invited to view the emerging masterplan and share their thoughts on the direction of the designs.

A series of events are taking place to provide an opportunity for members of the community to find out more and meet members of the project team, including:

An online webinar on Thursday 30th April at 6:30 pm. You can register to join the webinar via the consultation website www.parklanecastledonington.co.uk.
A drop-in exhibition at the Castle Donington May Day Market on Monday 4th May between 10:00–15:00.

The proposals include the delivery of up to 1,200 new homes, including 30% affordable homes, a new primary school, a care home and a community hub, set to be located on the eastern side of the development.

The hub has been designed to respond to the healthcare needs of the local community and offers flexible spaces that can accommodate a variety of uses. The new primary school will be located to the west of the site and will be brought forward at an appropriate stage of the development.

The site is a proposed allocation in the emerging North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) Local Plan and is located immediately west of the recently built Castle Donington Relief Road, which provides direct connections to the A50 and M1 and places the new neighbourhood at the heart of the nation’s Strategic Road Network. The plans are intended to support Castle Donington in becoming a Key Service Centre, as outlined in the upcoming NWLDC Local Plan.

The public consultation is now open and runs until Tuesday 12th May. More information about the masterplan can be viewed and responded to by visiting www.parklanecastledonington.co.uk.

Robert Wilson, Managing Director, Wilson Enterprises, said:
“We are pleased to be working alongside Barratt Redrow and Clowes Developments to present our latest masterplan, which reflects and responds to the feedback received from the community during the first stage of engagement. This input is invaluable in helping us create a neighbourhood which delivers long-term benefits for Castle Donington. We look forward to engaging further with the community as we continue to shape our proposals.”
