A man who told officers “I’m going to be coming with you” before a stop and search has been jailed.
Kash Brookes was observed driving in Sneinton shortly after 7.30pm on 15 January.
After he spotted the force’s knife crime team patrolling in a marked police vehicle, he made a sharp turn into Lord Nelson Street.
Officers followed the 34-year-old until he came to a stop near Thurgarton Street.
As he was detained, Brookes said to the officer: “I’ll be honest with you, there’s cannabis in the car – and cocaine. I’m going to be coming with you.”
True to his word, he had a significant amount of cocaine, MDMA and cannabis in the vehicle.
Mobile phones were also recovered.
A host of Class A, B and C drugs and associated dealing paraphernalia were then discovered when officers searched his home address.
Brookes, previously of Thistledown Road, Clifton, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of the Class A drugs cocaine, MDMA, crystal meth, magic mushrooms and 2C-B.
He also pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of the Class B drugs cannabis, ketamine, and M-CAT, as well as the class C drugs diazepam, pregabalin, tramadol and zopiclone.
Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday (21 April), he was jailed for four years.
Detective Constable Henry James, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Brookes was clearly involved in a significant drug dealing operation and was caught red-handed with thousands of pounds worth of drugs and drug paraphernalia all tied to him.
“Had he not been intercepted, these drugs could have caused considerable harm to our communities.
“We will never tolerate those who make their living from selling drugs and will continue with our efforts to make their lives as difficult as possible and bring them to justice.”
