Southwell: Image released after woman punched in the head at racecourse

Officers have released images of a man they wish to trace after a woman was punched to the head at Southwell Racecourse.

The incident happened on Sunday 18 August just after 6pm.

The victim, aged 48, was enjoying the day with her friends and was listening to a DJ set on the main stage.

A man pushed into her group of friends. When they have asked him to stop, he punched one of them to the head.

The 48-year-old victim fell the floor and regained consciousness in the medical tent.

She sustained severe bruising and cuts to her face.

Officers have now released images of a man that could help them with their inquiries and are calling on the public’s help to identify him.

Sergeant Stephen Pridmore, from Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“This was a brutal and nasty assault which has left the victim traumatised.

“What should have been a lovely day out was ruined by a man she had never met before, and we are determined to ensure he is caught.

“Officers have carried out a number of lines of inquiry. However, so far, no arrests have been made. We have now released an image of a man that could help us further our investigation.

“Do you know the man in the images? Are you the man in the images? Please get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
