StreetAid: Donate to support homeless people at West Bridgford contactless points

This weekend, people in West Bridgford will be celebrating the switching on of the Christmas lights.

Nottingham Street Aid sends a message to event-goers:

‘It looks like temperatures will be increasing by then, but that will be little comfort to those sleeping on Nottingham’s streets as winter arrives. Some nights, more than 50 people can be found bedded down outside in Nottingham and surrounding areas.

‘Nottingham Street Aid was set up just over a year ago to help homeless people, and it has now raised over £18,000 from public donations.

‘The money is spent in partnership with the many charities that directly support homeless people in Nottingham. Every penny donated is spent on items to help people in the Nottingham area move away from life on the streets.

‘So far, we have helped more than 20 people with items as diverse as white goods for a new flat, tools to enable a joiner to get work, and a second-hand bike to help with job-searching.

‘If you would like to help, look out for donation points outside Central News and Cards on The Avenue and in Forde’s Coffee and Sandwich Bar on Tudor Square.

‘Your donation of £3 at the tap of a card can make a big difference to those most vulnerable in our community.’
