Students celebrate A-Level results at Magnus C of E Academy

Magnus Church of England Academy students collected their much-anticipated A Level Results today.

Impressive data shows that this year, 100% of Magnus students achieved grades A*-E, with 72% achieving grades A*-C. 

In addition, 38% of students, -a large proportion of this year’s cohort, achieved the highest marks of A*-B.

Anna Martin is Principal of Magnus Church of England Academy, and she said, “We are incredibly proud of our Sixth Form students and all they have achieved. These results reflect not only their academic abilities, but also their perseverance, commitment and character. We congratulate every student on their success and thank our staff and families for the support they have provided throughout their educational journey. We wish all of our students every success as they move on to university, apprenticeships, employment and further training.”

Child of Courage awardee Johnthomas Adams is heading to the University of Lincoln after achieving A, C and C grades at A Level.

Magnus student, Johnthomas Adams collected his results with his grandmother, Caroline Adams.

During his time at Magnus, Johnthomas has shown remarkable resilience following the tragic loss of both his mother and father and now lives with his grandparents.

In recognition of his courage and determination, Johnthomas has also received the Child of Courage Award.

Johnthomas said Magnus staff were supportive, saying, “If I ever had any issues, the staff at Magnus were always on hand to help. I am pretty happy with my results, and my Granny is too. I will now go on to study Maths at the University of Lincoln.”

Magnus student Otis Summerfield attended the academy results day and said, “I’m very happy with my results.  I got a B in Biology, B in Maths and C in Physics. I also got a B in my EPQ (extended project qualification) which I did on steroid uses in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). 

“I’m really excited to go and study Biomedical Science at the University of Lincoln, and I’m looking forward to university life and the independence that comes with it. I’ll miss my teachers at Magnus and the people the most.” 

Fellow student, Nicholas Smith, is also Magnus C of E Academy’s head boy and said, “I’m very pleased! I achieved an A in Maths and B, B and B in Further Maths, Chemistry and Design and Technology.” 

The academy has seen particularly strong results in very academic subjects, such as Maths, Physics, Chemistry and History, as well as improvements in many other subjects, including 100% A-C pass rates in some subjects.
