Police said officers had been carrying out enquiries after the scooter was reported stolen from a residential driveway in the town.
With support from residents and further police work, officers identified a vehicle believed to be linked to the incident. This led to a suspect being identified.
Police said the suspect has since admitted the offence after evidence was gathered.
The mobility scooter has now been returned to its rightful owner.
