Officers have detained a suspected drug dealer after stopping a car in St Ann’s.
A large number of deal bags containing cannabis were recovered when the vehicle was pulled over on Ransom Road shortly before 3.45pm on Sunday. Police also seized a significant amount of cash.
Shpetim Skenderaj, aged 43, has been charged with possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply, acquiring criminal property, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
Skenderaj, of Beeston, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 19 January and has been released on bail to appear again on 26 February.
Sergeant Jono Pothecary, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Priority Tasking Team, said drug-related crime had a damaging impact on communities and was often linked to serious violence.
He said officers would continue to proactively stop suspicious vehicles and carry out searches, adding that in this case their suspicions were justified and a significant quantity of drugs had been removed from the streets.
He said police would continue working to make Nottingham a safer place for everyone.
