Teenager arrested after boy threatened at knifepoint in Co-op

A 19-year-old man was arrested yesterday after a boy was believed to have been threatened at knifepoint.

Officers were called to The Co-op in Arnold Road at around 12.20 pm when a 17-year-old boy came into the store asking for help.

Police quickly attended, searched the area and identified a suspect.

A 19-year-old man was searched and a knife was recovered.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.

Inspector James Walker, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Threatening behaviour has no place in our city or county and we will endeavour to catch anyone responsible for intimidating people in our communities.

“Knife crime has a devastating impact on people’s lives and our force is committed to tackling knife crime in all its forms.
