The Lenton Centre faces closure unless significant funds can be raised

The Lenton Centre in Nottingham, a community hub featuring a swimming pool, gym, hall, and community spaces, faces the threat of closure of all or part of its building, which will significantly impact the community.

This essential organisation now urgently seeks financial aid to continue its operations.

To continue to support the local community with the gym and community spaces, the Lenton Centre requires a cash injection of £30,000.

The need rises to £100,000 to maintain the use of a swimming pool.

The financial struggles are largely due to the cost-of-living crisis, which has significantly increased utility bills and wages.

Additionally, the recent removal of the discretionary charity rates relief by the council has exacerbated the Centre’s financial woes.

Miriam Pearman, Managing Director at The Lenton Centre said:

“The Lenton Centre is more than just a facility; it’s a cornerstone of our community”

“We offer essential services and a place for people to connect, stay fit, and engage in various activities. The potential closure would be a significant loss for everyone.”

The Centre is appealing to the local community, businesses, and supporters to help raise the necessary funds. Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference in preserving this invaluable resource.

Even with the needed cash injection, an unavoidable round of redundancies will occur in the short term. However, with a leaner team, The Lenton Centre plans to rebuild and enhance its activity offerings, aiming to increase bookings for the hall and other community spaces. This strategy is designed to ensure the Centre’s sustainability and long-term viability.

Donations can be made directly to The Lenton Centre. Please contact Miriam Pearman for further details at miriam@thelentoncentre.org.uk.

The Lenton Centre has been a staple in the community for nearly 20 years, providing a variety of services including fitness classes, community events, and recreational activities. Its mission is to promote health, well-being, and social interaction among residents of all ages.
