Market shop owners have been left devastated after their shops were targeted last weekend by an opportunist thief.
Six units in Sneinton Market were broken into in the early hours of Sunday morning stealing hundreds of pounds from their tills.
Officers are now appealing for information and witnesses to help with their enquiries.
Police Constable Phil Brownlow is leading the investigation. He said: “This has had a devastating impact to all the victims who woke up to find that their shops had been ransacked.
“We believe a thief was in the area looking around and scoping shops at around 1.30am, before he returned later.
“An unknown person climbed over a secure gate then smashed a window to gain entry to the property.
“The person took hundreds of pounds out of tills, as well as ruining stock within the shops.
“We are now appealing for anyone to come forward if they saw anything suspicious.
“If you can help please ring 101, quoting incident number 401 of 8 November 2020.”
