A £1,000 fixed penalty notice has been issued after a large fly-tip was discovered on Pleasley Lane in Teversal.
Ashfield District Council’s Community Safety team investigated after receiving a report of waste dumped at the site.
Officers found a telephone number among the rubbish and contacted its owner, who said they had moved out of a property in February after the landlord decided to sell it.
The property’s new owners were contacted but did not respond.

Two community protection officers then visited the address in Beeston, where they found a tradesperson working. The person who had arranged the removal of the waste subsequently contacted the officers and accepted responsibility.
He was issued with a £1,000 fixed penalty notice for fly-tipping. This was reduced to £600 because it was paid immediately.
The waste has since been cleared by the person responsible.
The council reminded residents that they remain legally responsible for their rubbish after paying somebody to remove it. People should check that anyone hired to dispose of waste holds a valid waste carrier’s licence and should request a waste transfer note or receipt.
