Two in hospital after car hits three pedestrians

Two people remain in hospital after a collision involving a car and three pedestrians in Bulwell.

Emergency services were called to Main Street at 11.24am on New Year’s Eve after a vehicle mounted the pavement.

A 78-year-old woman sustained multiple serious injuries and is being treated in hospital.

Another pedestrian, a 34-year-old man, is also being treated in hospital for a serious leg injury.

Another pedestrian was injured but did not require hospital treatment.

The driver, a 70-year-old man, was also treated in hospital and has now been released.

No arrests have been made but an investigation into what happened is continuing,

Sergeant Craig Luckett, of the Nottinghamshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit, said:

“This was a distressing incident that was witnessed by many members of the public.

“Sadly, one woman sustained some very serious injuries and is currently being treated in hospital.

“Another man also sustained a significant leg injury.

“As our investigation into what happened continues, our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident.”
