Nottinghamshire Police has arrested two men on European arrest warrants this weekend.
A 49-year-old man was detained by the force’s Foreign National Offending team at an address in Doncaster today (Sunday 11 October) on behalf of the Polish authorities in connection with an allegation of threats to kill public officials in Poland.
It follows the arrest of a 44-year-old man yesterday (Saturday 10 October) Meden Bank, Sutton-in-Ashfield for a European arrest warrant on behalf of the Slovenian authorities in relation to a fraud offence.
Sergeant Tim Cuthbert, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The team has been producing some exceptional results in recent weeks, with over seven people wanted on European arrest warrants being detained in the last three weeks.
“They have worked exceptionally hard and located numerous individuals who have taken steps to avoid authorities, often for several years. I’d like to thank the team for their relentless work, as we continue to assist out European colleagues with their investigations.”
Both men will appear for their initial extradition hearings at Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday 12 October).
