UK Covid Update 7 March
From the week of 21 February 2022, the UK Health Security Agency stopped publishing dashboard updates at weekends.
The dashboard is updated daily from Monday to Friday. Daily cases and deaths by report date published on Mondays include figures from the preceding weekend. These will not be separated out to show daily figures for Saturday and Sunday. Cases by specimen date and deaths by date of death are separated out for each day.
Tests
Between 28 February 2022 and 6 March 2022, there have been 4,375,155 tests. This shows a decrease of -5.7% compared to the previous 7 days.
Cases
A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.
Between 1 March 2022 and 7 March 2022, 300,017 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 28.2% compared to the previous 7 days.
Vaccinations
Vaccines are currently given in 3 doses.
52,672,968 people had been given a first dose by the end of 6 March 2022.
49,106,830 people had been given a second dose by the end of 6 March 2022.
38,377,152 people had been given a booster or third dose by the end of 6 March 2022.
Healthcare
Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.
Between 23 February 2022 and 1 March 2022, 8,143 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 1.6% compared to the previous 7 days.
There were 10,702 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 4 March 2022.
Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.
There were 257 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 4 March 2022.
Deaths
Between 1 March 2022 and 7 March 2022, there have been 711 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows a decrease of -5.5% compared to the previous 7 days.
