Fire crews were called to a flat fire on Derby Road in Lenton on Friday afternoon, leading to the closure of part of the busy Nottingham route.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to the incident at 4.21pm on Friday 5 June.
Three crews, from London Road, Carlton and Highfields fire stations, attended the scene near the Savoy Cinema.
A section of Derby Road was cordoned off while firefighters dealt with the blaze.
The fire service said four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building. All residents were accounted for and there were no reports of any injuries.
The closure affected traffic in the area, with bus operators Nottingham City Transport and Trent Barton confirming services were being diverted while Derby Road remained closed.
NCT and Trent Barton buses were affected but NCT has returned to normal routes.
