Last night Friday 9 December Rushcliffe South Officers conducted a drink and drug operation on the A606 Melton Road at Tollerton.
The first vehicle officers came across was found parked in a lay-by.
The male driver was found in the driver’s seat to be smoking cannabis.
The driver and the vehicle were searched, and further cannabis was discovered.
A roadside drugs test was conducted with the male, and he provided a positive reading for cannabis.
He was subsequently arrested and taken to custody.
In custody the male gave false details to hide the fact he had NOT got a Full UK driving licence.
He was further arrested and charged for:-
• Driving without insurance
• Driving otherwise in accordance with a licence
• Obstruct a constable in execution of their duty
• Possession of Cannabis
The driver stated he had taught himself to drive and had total disregard for the safety of other road users.
The male was released under investigation for Driving motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.
The fatal four are the most common causes of road accidents and yet, very easy to avoid. Stay within the speed limit, don’t use your mobile phone, always wear a seat belt and never drive if you plan to drink alcohol.
