Updates: A1 Nottinghamshire closed both ways after serious collision

The A1 in Nottinghamshire is closed in both directions between the A46 near Newark-on-Trent and the B6325 near North Muskham following a serious collision which occurred shortly after 21:00 on 3rd April.

9:28 am – Update – the road has now fully reopened


Nottinghamshire emergency services are in attendance.

National Highways service providers are in attendance assisting with the closures and traffic management.

All traffic caught within the closures in both directions has been released.

The road is expected to remain closed throughout the morning until at least 10am whilst collision investigations take place.

Diversion Routes

Road users travelling northbound are advised to follow the Hollow Triangle diversion symbol on road signs

      • Exit the A1 at the A1/A46 Newark Junction and turn right (south-west) at Brownhills roundabout onto the A46 and continue until the A46/A617/A616 Cattle Market roundabout.
      • Turn right (north) onto the A616 until the South Muskham mini roundabout.
      • Continue straight over onto the B6325 to North Muskham Interchange and take the northbound entry slip road and re-join the A1.
      • Road users travelling southbound are advised to follow the Solid Circle diversion symbol on road signs

 

    • Exit the A1 at the B6325 North Muskham Interchange and continue south along the B6325 to the South Muskham mini roundabout.
    • Continue straight over the roundabout onto the A616 and travel south until the A46/A616/A617 Cattle Market roundabout.
    • Turn left (north/east), onto the A46 Newark Bypass until the A1/A46 Brownhills roundabout, then go straight over and continue on the A46 until the A46/A17/A1 roundabout.
    • Turn right (south) at the roundabout and take the southbound entry slip road to re-join the A1.
