The A42 in Leicestershire is closed in both directions between J13 (Ashby-de-la-Zouch) and the M1J23a due to a multi vehicle collision.
Shortly before 3pm this afternoon National Highways Were made aware of a serious multi-vehicle collision which occurred on the northbound carriageway.
Leicestershire Police, Ambulance and Fire & Rescue attended the incident and were assisted by National Highways Traffic Officers.
All traffic within the closure has been released in both directions.
The closure is expected to remain in place until later this evening for Leicestershire Police collision investigation work.
