Victim punched and threatened with knife at Forest Rec in Nottingham

Police investigating a robbery in a Nottingham park have arrested two suspects.

The victim reported being attacked in the Forest Recreation Ground by a man and a woman around 10.30 pm on Sunday (28 January).

He told officers he had been punched in the face before being threatened with a knife.

One of the offenders then grabbed and damaged the victim’s bank cards before he was able to escape and flee the scene.

The victim contacted police and he was supported by officers before being taken to Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment.

A 24-year-old woman and a man, aged 25, were arrested on suspicion of robbery in the early hours of Monday.

Detective Sergeant Toni Smithurst, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“The victim needed hospital care for his injuries and we are working hard to discover exactly what happened.

“The Response officers on duty worked quickly and efficiently to investigate the incident and I’m pleased they were able to detain these two suspects overnight.

“Police and our partners have responded to previous concerns about antisocial behaviour inside Forest Rec by introducing measures including CCTV cameras, extra high-visibility patrols, improved lighting, providing Ring doorbells for neighbouring homes and ANPR cameras.

“This investigation remains ongoing, and anyone who was in or around the park at around this time and saw anything which could help officers should get in touch.

“We know there were a lot of students in the area at the time so I would appeal to them to get in touch if they can help with our inquiries.
